Plantago Ovata Husk(Ispaghula)

Common Name: Indian Plantago, Ispaghula, Fleam, Spogel Seeds, Isabgol, Sand Plantain.
Plant name: Plantago Ovata Husk
Chemical constituents: Mucilage mainly composed of arabinose, xylose, galacturonic acid, semi drying fatty oil and small amount of aucubin
Uses:
It is Diuretic, Emollient and Cooling.
Used in inflamatory conditions of mucous memberane of gastro intestinal tracts.
Very well known as a laxative.
Used  in irritable bowel syndrome, diverticular disease and diarrhea.
It also helps in lowering cholesterol and controlling diabetes.
