Anethum graveoleus(Dill)

Common Name: Dill, Anethum,dill seeds.
Plant name: Anethum graveoleus.
Chemical constituents: The major constituents identified in the seed oil are carvone, dillapiole, limonene, and dihydrocarvone. The herb oil contains, less carvonethan the seed oil. It contains mainly d-a-phellandrene, linalyl acetate ,thymol, isoeugenol, eugenol and phellandral.
Uses:
It is Stimulant, aromatic, carminative and stomachic.
 It is usually given as dillwater which is very good for children’s digestion. 
Dill is known for acting as an antibacterial and antispasmodic agent and as a diuretic.
 Its main purpose is for calming the digestive system. 
 The essential oil found in Dill assists in relieving intestinal spasms.
Gripe water mixtures and for those suffering from colds and other such related aliments, dill is often added to cold and flu remedies.
